Review of A Quiet Place (2018) by Roban D — 04 May 2018
From the first tiptoed footsteps in the opening scene, the stage is set for a tense, thrilling ride. The aspect of the movie I didn't enjoy: the family conflict after a key event is poorly resolved.
A sacrifice in the end of the movie is a poor substitute for communication. The end of the movie was also, in my opinion, poorly written. The monsters' weakness was well-crafted, but I believe they waited too long to make the characters aware of the weakness and poorly executed the final scene where (after the sacrifice of one character) the remaining characters essentially commit suicide.
I was left with no hope that they would survive, and since they seemed to be the only ones in the world capable of finding the weakness (due to a unique character-flaw-turned-advantage), they leave the rest of the world without hope as well.
