First the good...

The cinematic style was awesome. Using sound and the absence of truly engrosses the viewer. It made me feel more on the edge of my seat waiting for a volume change than a simple"jump" scene.

Acting was good too, you could feel the fear emanating from each character from a simple pin drop.

Alas, those can't cover the flaw of a story line.

There is no back story to who these people are, or how they have the knowledge they do. You get snippets about the creatures from pin ups on the walls and newspaper clips. As a viewer I couldn't tell if at day 89 it's been 89 days since this all started or 89 days since they've been abandoned by those who could protect them, as in military or police or anything.

Finally, and maybe this is just me, but the whole ending felt like a "no $!@# Sherlock" moment. Where by any attentive viewer would have figured out long before the movie presented the counter, and that made the sacrifice at the end even more meaningless.

It's like a zombie apocalypse where the cure is right in front of everyone's faces and it's ignored in lieu of some off hand love story.
