Review of A Quiet Place (2016) by Kimmo K — 23 Jul 2018
I don't understand the hype. This movie is either very brilliant in the tradition of Starship Troopers or extremely bad, and I felt it was the latter one. There are some scary bits, but most of the time it is annoyingly calculating and unintentionally funny.
The characters are two-dimensional at best. The final scene is extremely repulsive, but at the same time very revealing. I understood this movie was an allegory of the violence-embracing and xenophobic mentality, which is currently very popular in some societies.
I also realized that this was again unintentional: the creators of this movie did not (really) understand what they were saying.
