Review of A Prairie Home Companion (2006) by Anthony O — 20 Aug 2007

I'll admit that this movie didn't have my full attention while watching it, however it was unable to grab it when I gave it the chance. While almost every cast member is a very well-knwown, talented name, they don't seem to really bring too much to this film or these characters, especially as an ensemble.

I'm not a fan of movies that talk about "talent" then fail to show it (Lohan in particular with her "deer-in-the-headlights stare). I haven't seen much, if any of Altman's other work, but if this movie is an indicator then I probably won't enjoy it.

An interesting subject written down and smothered with a less than interesting plot did not make for an enjoyable experience for me, but I can see how fans on the radio show will like it .
