Review of A Place in the Sun (1951) by Bella M — 17 Jan 2008
Not even "A Streetcar Named Desire" hit me this hard. There are no doubts about this film, it is simply amazing with terrific acting by both Clift and Taylor and brilliant direction of George Stevens (who also directed Taylor in Giant 3 years later). What really makes this an emotionally-moving story, is the great sympathy (flaws and all) you felt for them. Your heart rooted for Taylor & Clift's starcrossed romance.
And cried for them too. This is without a doubt a film experince not to be missed by any.
