Review of A Place in the Sun (1951) by James M — 09 Mar 2010
Montgomery Clift is amazing in it, as is Taylor. Kind of depressing how shamelessly Woody Allen stole it's entire plot for Match Point, yet Match Point is never even compared to APITS, just his previous work, Crime and Misdemeanors. They both are just "pastiche" to APITS, Woody's kinder synonym for ripoffs.
At least Quintin doesn't make his ripoffs subtle, he blatantly puts them out there for the astute cinephile to recognize.
