Review of A Place in the Sun (1951) by Scott S — 24 Nov 2010
Wanted to see this classic for a long time and it was worth the wait. It's important to watch the movie in context - that is it was made in 1951. All dramatic films of that era had a dose of melodrama and this film is loaded with it.
That said, Monty Clift and Elizabeth Taylor's performances were outstanding. George Stevens approach to the film was great - I especially liked how he made the camera an observer in so many scenes.
If you are a fan of classic films don't miss this one.
