Review of A Place in the Sun (1951) by Jens T — 02 Sep 2009
It's melodrama at its best, and it doesn't hurt that the main cast includes the glamorous Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor. To avoid his responsibilities and further complications in his life, to have more comfort and to escape his ordinary middle-class life, he decides to kill his other pregnant lover to get her out of the way.
But of course this only leads to more complications and problems. Somehow, you want him to get away with it and at the same time you loathe him so much.
