Review of A Perfect Murder (1998) by David S — 20 Oct 2008
I had moderate expectations for this, having thought Dial M for Murder was good but not great. Davis' film is more suspenseful, more malicious, and more realistically acted than Hitchcock's Kelly lovefest, and it's always so refreshing to see Douglas on screen because you can't help realize how goshdarn good he is.
I liked the little twists and the violent climax, and thought the screenwriter did a particularly good job of spreading out the thrills in his adaptation of a play whose climax comes essentially in the middle, not at the end.
Suchet was underused but always welcome on my television.
