Review of A Perfect Getaway (2009) by Kevin R — 19 Feb 2011
He's really hard to kill.
A couple heads to Hawaii for their honeymoon and shortly after arriving a serial killer is announced to be on the loose. The serial killer's crimes appear to be the work of a couple. The honeymooners begin their voyage by hiking; and on their trip, they encounter two other couples. Is it possible one of these couples are the killers or are the newly weds being paranoid?
"Your situational awareness actually kind of sucks.".
David Twohy, director of Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick, delivers A Perfect Getaway. The storyline for this picture is interesting and delivered in a unique manner. The ending is clever but not as clever as it may have wanted to be. The acting is solid and better than one may anticipate. The case includes Timothy Olyphant, Milla Jovovich, Steve Zahn, and Dale Dickey.
"Nothing bad ever happens in Hawaii, right?".
I came across this film while flicking through the channels and decided to give it a shot. The previews reminded me of a combination of Battle Royale and Surviving the Game; unfortunately, I can't say this picture was as good as either movie but it was still entertaining and worth watching. The film is clever in its own way and ends well. This is worth watching but not worth adding to your DVD collection.
"How you doing, hot wheels?".
Grade: C+.
