Review of A Perfect Getaway (2009) by Ronnie Y — 20 Dec 2014
+ Great tension building. I'm constantly on edge; For a survival film, it is important for the audience to know the people try all they can to live. I think the script has done that to satisfy me. And Steve Zahn is chillingly evil and creepy.
- Except the labrador story, the screenwriter's attempt to add any emotional depth or complexity to the characters have completely failed. The emotional struggle between the killer couple feel unnatural and distanced. As this was the main driver towards the 'happy' ending, giving this whole nerve-racking experience a sloppy demise. Lastly, it isn't that hard to figure out the plot twist, is it? There are only that two couples and surely it's not the obvious one.
