Review of A Perfect Getaway (2009) by Jarrett M — 24 Dec 2011
A Perfect Getaway is a somewhat fun ride, filled with red herrings, dead ends, and misdirection in its plot. This is an neat idea, but gets to be a little much as the movie progresses until the big reveal, which kinda falls a bit flat once you realize that the entire movie is devoted to hiding and throwing you off one tidbit of information.
It isn't a bad film, but it feels like it thinks it's more clever than it actually is. The story is paced kinda slow to start, but picks up a bit as the plot progresses. There are no powerhouses in the cast, but everybody does a decent job.
I particularily liked Timothy Olyphant's performance, but it wasn't mind blowing. A kinda cool film that is worth a look, but it is ultimately forgettable.
