Review of A Perfect Getaway (2009) by Carley O — 03 May 2012
For a movie with a premise seemingly so cliched and obvious, A Perfect Getaway does a pretty fine job of rounding off this B-Movie thriller flick.
Famous Resident Evil actress Milla Jovovich, stars as Cydney, lover of script writer Cliff (Steve Zahn), a married couple spending their honeymoon in the beautiful destination of Hawaii. All is not well though as word soon spreads of two murders (believed to be a man and a woman) who are on the loose in the area. Cliff and Cydney soon meet non-married couple Nick (Timothy Olyphant) and and Gina (Kiele Sanchez) who seem a little to strange; it appears Cliff believes they are the two murders who could be after them!
Already you have the basics for a chilling thriller, but not an obvious one. At times you think the plots to obvious and on other occasions you will be left playing a a game of 'Whodunnit'. Although the revelations take a handsome ammount of duration to journey to, the final 20 minutes are epic in every sense.
Powerfully and excellently acted, A Perfect Getaway does not lack anything on that front. You may lose concentration at times due to the fact for a thriller, it is undeniably slow at times, but all will be rewarded in the final section of the film - you won't be disappointed!
