Review of A Perfect Day (2015) by Leena L — 27 Mar 2016
A MUST SEE for anyone who has ever worked in the Balkans, especially during a conflict or another. It has it all, the jaded veteran on his way home, the "this IS home"-type, the newcomer with rules and regulations citations on the tongue, the long suffering interpreter and the evaluator who just wants to close the mission down (ok, those do not exist in real life, we know!).
The Absurdity of it all, the international inability to do things, the "but of course"-moments that are clear to locals but not to you, the gorgeous mountain scenery and absurdly dangerous roads in full speed, the grannies with scarfs and cows, the hoodlums with guns, the hatred and the effortless "let us turn this into a money making effort".
The cast is brilliant and funnily enough it brought back a lot of situations that could not have happened anywhere but in the Balkans!
