Dream Child is actually not quite as awful as I remembered. By this point Freddy was a fully fledged commodity, armed with rap music videos and various other gimmicks. This does show in the film as this is perhaps the campest incarnation of Krueger thus far.

My main problem with this film is the dream child concept itself. It just seems to be in bad taste to me. Having said that there is some decent imagination on display. There are special effects galore and I did actually leap of my seat following one early scare. Back to the special effects and perhaps the best one is the motorbike kill. The victim is essentially part metamorphosed into the bike he is riding. Think the end of The Fly, only with a bike. There are some downright unpleasant, and not in a good way, effects on display aswell. Such as Freddy feeding someone to death. It's not scary and it's not pretty.

Although this series should have been long dead by this point the next sequel promised to do exactly that.
