Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) by John P — 27 Nov 2011
Ah, yes. A return to 80s cheese! How I love how high school life was portrayed in that decade! Anyway, this entry basically bridges Parts 3 and 5 by having one half be about the protagonist from Part 3 (not Patricia Arquette anymore, though. Now it's Tuesday Knight, which sounds like a cross between a porn star and metal frontman), and the other being about Lisa Wilcox, who goes from being annoying, to being not only the coolest protagonist of the series, but also the cutest. Er, anyway. The first half is boring as hell, because you don't realize there's going to be a transition, and the kills are boring.
However (I'm skipping a line here so you can read easier), the 3rd act is fucking awesome. There's a kill here that made me cringe because it was so disgusting (which is awesome), and Lisa Wilcox charms the pants off of Freddy and the audience. So, it's half a good movie. It's not as good as 3 and not as bad as 2, but it's... Middle of the road. I dunno. It's two half movies that combine to make one mediocre one. Bleh, on to 5.
