Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) by Ryan V — 12 Apr 2012
This one is the MTV Freddy film. And since this was back when MTV was good, it works well. Englund is still in top form as Freddy. My only gripe is that they cheapen the previous film by killing off all three survivors immediately.
Starting with the only black teen to best Fred. Not cool. Then again, this series doesn't reward it's surviving characters for long. That little disappointment aside, this is when the Elm Street series was still firing on all cylinders.
Like the previous entry, the teens are just memorable and fun enough to miss them once Mr. Krueger starts carving his way through the cast. Of course, it's fun watching Robert Englund chew the scenery while still being scary.
