Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) by Bill M — 26 Oct 2012
Another of the rare decent Freddy sequels, hardly scary, but full of crazy, imaginatively realized dream (and nightmare) imagery, this is a cool, very strange example of stylized 80's pop horror, with it's rock music video style, and truly surreal set-pieces it's really quite remarkable, and one of the most inventive, creative American horror films of the time.
Robert Engulnd (now with top billing) is on gleeful form as the rock star boogie man, the special effects are weird and often truly amazing (Freddy getting torn apart by miniature souls coming out of his body is an impressive example) and how can you not love a film were Freddy is brought back to life by a dog pissing fire on his bones.
Well worth a look.
