Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) by Adrian Z — 19 Feb 2013
3/5 - Not bad by slasher film standards, but sequelitis is setting in, as Part 4 is a more-by-the-numbers, less clever version of Dream Warriors. It has potential, though. Wilcox takes over the mantle as a teen with the power to absorb her friend's abilities, but only after they have been dispatched by wisecracking Freddy.
Unfortunately, the film doesn't capitalize much on this ability, only having Wilcox make very brief use of her new talents during the climax of the film. Until then, it follows the template of a thinly plotted slasher film.
Kevin Yagher's yucky make-up effects are a highlight. Craig Safan's annoying score are not.
