Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) by Mike L — 22 Oct 2010
"Welcome to primetime... bitch!".
In the prequel to the popular 80s horror movie series Nightmare On Elm Street in which focuses it's primary character- Freddy Kruger- a dark figure which kills children from within their dreams and dropping a few puns while doing so. This time the adults have had enough of his onslaught and make a plan to put an end to all of this: to get some kids with big imagination to lure him into one big connected dream and put a stop to him. They select a small number in hopes they can defeat the man once and for all.
This one is actually one of my favorites of the series. Perhaps second behind the first film. I found it interesting that someone finally relized that you can do anything in your dreams as long as you have a big imagination and use that as a weapon against evil. But sadly it dosen't work as well as one would hope since they spawned about two or three more Elm Street movies, a crossover, and a terrible TERRIBLE remake.
*ahem*... anyway... this movie is definately memorable for it's creativity in violence and the humor they manage to pull off in it. If your a little kid Freddy can be a pretty scary guy but as you get older he's actually just a pretty funny, pissed off burn-victom from hell. hmm... well.. he may still be a little scary... but yeah this movie was pretty fun to watch, extremely campy, but hard to resist. I love how this movie's dream sequences actually make you feel like your in a dream-like state which makes it even more fun. A fun movie and a fun series except when someone else takes place of the original. ....Here's looking at you Rorchach.
