Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) by Shawn B — 20 Nov 2012
"A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" is my third favorite entry in the series(behind the original and New Nightmare). It is probably one of the best slasher sequels of the 80's. Not to mention one of the last good slasher movies of the 80's overall.
The thing that makes this such a good one is that rather than just being a complete copy of the original, it actually tries to expand the story. It talks about abilities people can have in there dreams and the possibility of entering another persons dream to fight freddy. Plus the dream sequnces are some of the last good ones of the series for a while, and manage not to go to over the top like 4-6.
Along with all these good things there is one thing that I disliked about this one. I fell like this is the one that started the trend of creating stereotypical characters that you dont really care about at all. Which is something the later sequels took way to far.
Overall it is one of the best of the series and a really good sequel. I would definately recommend it to fans of the series and slasher fans in general. I would also recommend you skip 4-6, this wrapped up the series quite nicely.
