Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) by Kane L — 07 Aug 2013
This film definitely raised the bar in terms of how competent and enjoyable remakes can be. This said, negatives are easily deduced from this particular film, which are the obvious reasons for the film gaining so much negative critical attention.
Although the film was visually atmospheric, and well acted, I feel that the creators didn't go far enough with the source material, and although all of the important eccentricities of the original's plotline are present, the film doesn't encourage a great deal of emotional involvement from it's audience, and withdraws from dragging the audience too deeply into the nightmares as the original films.
Jackie Earle Haley is well suited to the role, and I am looking forward to a sequel.
