Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) by Jay M — 08 Feb 2014
Going into this film I thought it would be a terrific remake to the classic Wes Craven film that created a horror villain that was enjoyed by adults & kids alike: but I was let down big time! This remake was an absolute Titanic train wreck; disappointing because the original was such a classic horror film hit & technology has progressed so far from the days when the original was made I was expecting bigger & better special effects to be shown.
Not only did the effects of the movie fail to rival the simple generic effects that helped make the original so great; it failed to produce one of the most impotent elements to any suspenseful movie & horror film.
.. that made the original so great; the soundtrack; that builds up the suspenseful scenes. Adding on that the original had comedy placed in it (Freddy laughed so much it was a wonder he did not get flies in his mouth) & this dropped it completely.
All of the elements that made the original a hit had been removed pretty much with the exception of Freddy Krueger being a child killer with his hand tiger claw.
