Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) by Alex V — 28 Feb 2012
If not terribly inventive or compelling, the "Nightmare" remake at least has the advantage of looking nice. That is, looking Hollywood. Jackie Earle Haley plays up a great Freddy, while the rest of the cast snooze by on their shallowly written caricatures. Meanwhile, you keep wondering: If Freddy is master of space and time while his victims are asleep, then why doesn't he kill them in more interesting ways. I mean, the possibilities are endless. Long ago, Johnny Depp got eaten by his bed, and then spewed onto his ceiling under the effects of reverse gravity. It was delightful. They could have at least kept that in the remake.
--4.1/10--.
