Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) by Sahara K — 06 Nov 2012
This is probably my first 'true' horror film. I have seen others but they have either been family oriented (Gremlins) or the concept of horror is used for a comedic response (The Scary Movies series). That being said I actually enjoyed this movie quite a lot. I knew a bit about the movie before I saw it but only the most basic and didn't really have any idea what the main plot was except for 'Creepy guy attacks people in their sleep'. It was good to see that idea to be more fleshed out and that's the reason why I wanted to see this movie to start with. It took me a lot to convince myself to watch it (which is partly because as I have said haven't seen any true horror movies and partly because I don't know many people who like scary movies). It was clever how they showed the apparent transition between dreams and reality as well as how other people perceived the attacks of Freddy to his victim. Those had some really interesting camera angles.I also enjoyed finding out the history of Freddy and the connection between him and the rest of the main cast. The ending kinda surprised me a bit and that is why I want to.
See a sequel to this. It's a good movie.
