When Platinum Dunes produced a remake of A Nightmare on Elm's Street, I was rolling my eyes because I really enjoy the series, and seeing Michael Bay be involved with it, already made me think that this is not going to be well, and I was right after watching it.

The acting is fine, but it could've obviously be casted by anyone, and it wouldn't make a difference whatsoever, except for Jackie Earle Haley who's a good replacement for Robert Englund, even if Robert Englund is still better than him.

I like the idea of micro-naps as it make it seem like the characters have even less chance of surviving, but they didn't do much to it and just felt like an idea not well executed. The characters are bland, which kind of disrespects the characters from the original film.

Things don't make sense, and the film didn't spend as much time on making us think that Kris is the main character like the original. The effects looks really bad, even the effects on Freddy's face doesn't look that scary.

The writing by Wesley Strick and Eric Heisserer is not that good, and keeps going for the jumpscares which were not scary at all. The last fight scene was a bit entertaining, but was very short, and I do like that it went back to the dream sequences that were very dark and disturbing.

Even if the dream sequences are back to being dark, what's the point of this even being remade? A Nightmare on Elm's Street is just an unnecessary film that didn't seem to understand why the original was even scary at all.
