The original Nightmare movie is my personal favorite from the franchise. Wes Craven knew his craft and the movie is still pretty frightening even for today. Complete with a chilling musical score, eerie environments, and one of Hollywood's most ruthless & chilling horror villain of all times- Freddy Krueger, before he dropped to a B rated to a D rated comedian.
Freddy was ACTUALLY frightening in the original, which is why it will remain my favorite in the series. Plus, Johnny Depp is in it (and a super young one at that!) .
