Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) by Dwight W — 25 Apr 2012
Wes Craven took the slasher genre to new terrifying highs in his horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street. Although I was not alive when it first came out, I can imagine it was a breath of fresh air for horror fans and broke ground with it's creativity and originality and introduction to the public what is possibly the most horrifying slasher villain of all time, Freddy Krueger.
Scary not only because of his appearance, but because of his method of killing. Robert Englund's intense performance placed him on AFI's top 50 greatest villains of all time list, being the only slasher to do so.
It's a sadistic spark of bloody imagination that continues to induce nightmares to this day.
