Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) by Muchacho Beans * — 20 Aug 2012
A Nightmare on Elm Street is the touching story of boy meets girl - boy invades girl's dreams - boy tries to stab girl with finger knives in her no-no place while she sleeps in a bathtub because that's what teenage girls did in the 80's. Plus it has Johnny Depp before Tim Burton turned him into an annoying emo-character actor.
Wes Craven has created what is easily the greatest horror film of the century thanks in large part to a clever script and Robert England's iconic portrayal of a sadistic, horribly disfigured killer who stalks his prey in their dreams. The terrifyingly good premise, creepy original score and a handful of the most creative kills in the history of cinema make this a must see for horror fans.
