Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) by Anthony C — 04 Dec 2012
I've gone through three noticeable phases with this movie. When I was very young, I had nightmares, but also thought of Freddy as just a villain from a movie, something fun, a cool character. I loved it because my Dad did and it was sort of a bonding thing between us to joke about Freddy coming after me (in retrospect, WTF DAD! I'm surprised I didn't constantly pee the bed!). When I watched this again at 14 I thought it was goofy, but I thought that about almost everything, like I was just too cool for it and it's humor, but I just didn't get it.
And now I'm 23 and this movie actually creeps me out. The effects in this are so fucking great! The classroom scene literally gives me goosebumps. I sort of hate it because it's so creepy.
And now to watch all the shitty sequels.
