Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) by Bill B — 17 Jan 2013
Gave this a re-watch this afternoon, it still holds up pretty well, though I don't think I'm that big of a fan of the series in general. That said, this one is definitely the best of the series in my estimation, as it is the most serious in tone, and remains creepy at times, while the series gets much more hokey as the sequels roll out. The Freddy we see here is creepy and unsettling, with much less of the stupid jokey bullshit that everyone else apparently loves so much, but kinda grates on me after awhile.
Recommended.
