"A Nightmare on Elm Street" is best remembered for its original concept and how influential it has been in shaping the careers of many filmmakers. The film itself suffers slightly from clunky execution and not a whole lot of emphasis on scares, but it is a strange, almost surreal experience that's hard to forget.
Freddy Krueger is one of cinema's great bad guys.
