Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) by Rocknblues 8 — 05 Mar 2014
Wes Craven's best film and easily one of the best 80's horror films. Robert England is great as the wise cracking horror icon slicing up young teenagers. Despite the low budget, the movie is stylish, and it manages to hold up to this day where many 80's films do not.
The stellar cast doesn't hurt... It features a young Johnny Depp, and a quality veteran actor like John Saxson to balance out the young unproven actors. And while the plot is good, without the proper direction and production team this would have been just another bad 80's horror.
