It's hard to rate this. It's certainly the most dated and imitated (poorly) of the iconic horror movies. I personally didn't find it scary at all, but it's all situational as I've seen Halloween and I've seen Edward Scissorhands.
Yet the twists are effectively subversive. I quite enjoyed the conceit of the plot which was far from straightforward. For another time and place, this would be chilling. Now? It seems well worn.
