Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) by Daniel L — 17 Jan 2015
"Whatever you do, don't fall asleep".
A nightmare on elm street is commonly known referred to as one of the greatest and most iconic horror films of all time, and it sure as hell live up to its title. Its concept of having a killer kill you in your dreams is a very creepy idea, and the film does use that very well with lots of creative effects, some still hold up as impressive for today's standards. Heather Langenkamp does a fantastic job as Nancy, her character is not only smart, but also shows vonerabiluty, and for his first performance, johnny depp was great here. But we all know that Robert Englund is Freddy, he's both creepy and at the same time pretty funny. Its a well written film, going from the serious side and humorous side very well. Unlike most of the series, it gives time for the nightmares to happen and don't appear like dreams which gives off more tensity. This movie certainly lives up to its title, and while there was one poor performance, it's a very brief one. It lives up to its name as a horror masterpiece. It gets a 10/10.
