Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) by John M — 05 Oct 2015
This is a very cool movie, as a horror movie, and being a kid in the early '80s and watching this on the movie theater must've been a huge thrill (unfortunately I was a toddler when this was released, so evidently I couldn't watch it).
I really like this, don't get me wrong, but the acting, specially from the girl who plays Nancy, is a little bad. The lines and the plot are somewhat bad too. I particularly hate when the characters are dumb but I guess this is a standard thing in the horror genre, so it couldn't be helped, but I have to admit this is a problem that, specifically in this movie, is more restricted to the adult characters.
The teenagers are much more intelligent and grasp the situation much faster. Considering the value of this as one of the ground-breakers in the genre and that is well executed, in spite of problems like acting and some of the characters, it could be said that this is a very good and entertaining movie, one with a high "rewatch value" (I already watched it more than once).
You can't go wrong with this one.
