Nightmare on Elm Street is an absolute classic in the horror genre. This film was directed by the late great Wes Craven and he did an amazing job. This film is brilliantly directed. This film has without a doubt one of the best horror premises ever. A killer with personality who will kill you in the one place you aren't safe, your dreams. Freddy Kruger is an amazing horror villain. He's very scary but he also has a personality, unlike Michael Myers or Jason. He also runs and his costume is iconic and easy to remember. The thing I noticed when watching this movie again was Freddy is only in the movie for around 7 or so minutes, but he's so creepy and scary he leaves an impression with only a small amount of screen time. Heather Langenkamp is brilliant as Nancy, she's very likeable and I like how instead of running and screaming the whole time she actually fights back at the end against Freddy. This film is also Johnny Depp's first movie. He's great and considering one of the reasons he was apparently cast was because Wes Craven's daughter thought he was attractive. The actors who also played Tina and Rod are great. The music for this movie is also very iconic and brilliant. This film also brilliantly uses practical effects. A rotating room is used for two brilliant and very gory kills. This film has some amazing kills that will stick with you. This film is an hour and a half and it really moves, it's very fast paced and this movie is really tense. Every time Nancy or someone else goes into a dream it's really tense. I also love the final act of this film, it's thrilling and very suspenseful. This film also has a fairly ambiguous ending, it would be so much scarier though if there were no sequels. Overall a Nightmare on Elm Street is a horror masterpiece, it's one of the best horror movies ever and one of my personal favourite movies. It's a great film to watch this Halloween and it's a.

Very scary and entertaining time. A+.
