A Nightmare on Elm Street packs present day horror cliches with plot elements not seen in many any horror pictures. Combine that with a decent storyline to develop the main characters Nancy and Freddy Krueger you get something scary and entertaining.
There is also the inventive and enjoyable acting of Robert Englund who went on to reprise his role as Freddy Krueger in several more installments.
