The dream sequences which feature Freddy Krueger waddling after his prey and emitting textbook evil laughs seem a little over-the-top 30 years later, but that only heightens the shock of the intense death scenes that often follow these sequences.
A memorable and imaginative horror film with an unusually intelligent protagonist - this one is a classic for a reason.
