Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) by Eric W — 20 Oct 2018
This movie had some interesting mechanics behind it's paranormal activity and was generally clever up until the end. The end however seems a bit weakly written as an excuse to create an open ending, rather than being clever like the rest of the film.
Langenkamp is interesting to watch and the effects are well done, but there is plenty of cheesy acting to go around, especially from Englund and Blakely. Perhaps the idea behind this film is to face fear head on, but it did it in such a roundabout way as to be ineffective as anything but a cheap B movie horror, deserving of maybe only a few watches.
