Review of A Night in Casablanca (1946) by Ryan V — 15 Feb 2012
The law of diminishing returns had set in for the Marx Brothers by the time A Night in Casablanca was made. While easily the strongest of their later movies, it's not nearly as funny as the 1930's work for Paramount that defines them.
This time the brothers are entangled in a plot where a Nazi war criminal is bumping off hotel managers in order to attain hidden treasure. Groucho, Harpo, and Chico have enough good moments to make this film watchable for die-hard Marx fans, but newcomers would be better served by the earlier movies.
