Review of A Most Wanted Man (2014) by Alban B — 24 Sep 2014
The late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman goes all German in this espionage thriller that sees German Intelligence trying to reel in a suspected terrorist/ Chechen refugee. Robin Wright with an alarmingly dark dye job and Rachel McAdams join in the fun. It's competent and softly spoken and just ever so slightly dull! TV does this sort of story so well - The Honourable Woman with Maggie Gyllenhaal recently blows the socks off this pretty formulaic Tinker Tailor-wannabe.
Hoffman is rumpled and slobbish as usual but it is a low key performance in a low key film.
