Review of A Most Wanted Man (2014) by Eric I — 05 Nov 2014
"Foreign films" starring American's with accents is always a bad idea. How are we to suspend our disbelief when well known Hollywood actors pretend to be German? Sure if it's just one, but virtually the entire cast?
Is Philip Seymour Hoffman an outstanding actor? Of course he is. Is this one of his very last roles? Unfortunately, yes. Is Rachel Adams phenomenal? Yes. Is Willem Dafoe great in almost everything? For sure. Does that make this movie good? Nope.
This film points to something incredibly important about the way America conducts (and has conducted) it's self regarding "anti terror", however I fear it's impact is considerably weak.
This film is "preaching to the choir", the only hope is that the "choir" learned something it didn't already know.
Oh yeah! and it's a very well acted and directed movie. However it's kind of boring in a lot of ways.
