Terrible film. Hoffman is sleepwalking, no doubt because of being high on heroin. I really like him as an actor, but this performance is garbage and ruins the movie, perhaps because of expectations of something more like his prior work.
I hate it that he died, but it is easy to see that he let himself go. Why? Heroin. One must NEVER even try heroin, because it is irreversibly addictive from the first injection.
