Review of A Most Wanted Man (2014) by Leon B — 18 Jan 2015
Review:
Although the movie is full of intense drama throughout, I did get a little bored after a while and the ending made the film seem pointless. Personally I thought that there was going to be some in depth twists but it's a straight movie which is based on trust. Basically, a man inherits loads of money from his terrorist father and the anti-terroist agents from America, investigate what is going to be done with the money. Its sounds basic but you really don't know who to trust and whose being genuine. I was hoping that the film was going to take a different direction because it started to drag after a while, but the director chose to stick with the basic elements of the story which let the movie down. As the film was based around the 9/11 period, I can understand why the agents were so paranoid but the man who was inheriting the money, ended up giving it away to various charities so I couldn't see the point of the ending. Average!
Round-Up:
This is yet another great performance from Phillip Seymour Hoffman who plays the head of the anti-terroist group. His deep investigating and thorough seek for the truth was believable and emotional in parts, especially the ending but I think that the pace let the film down, which was due to the director. Willem Dafoe played his part extremely well, as the banker and Rachel Adams also put in a believable performance as the lawyer. Anyway, I'm sure that there is an audience for this type of anti-terroist movie but I personally couldn't take all the back and forth of information and constant bickering between different agencies about how to deal with the delicate situation. .
Budget: $15million.
Worldwide Gross: $32million.
I recommend this movie to people who are into their deep dramas about a man who inherits loads of money from his terrorist father and gets investigated for his intentions of what to do with the money. 4/10.
