Review of A Most Wanted Man (2014) by Laurie T — 29 Mar 2015
Hard to watch w/o thinking of PSH's demise. His character only eats once (an interrupted French fry?), but otherwise drinks coffee or liquor and is always smoking. Beauty is provided by the actors playing Issa and his troubled lawyer.
This is an adaptation of post-Cold War Le Carré so there is ambiguity and good dialogue. PSH and Dafoe have hard to understand German accents; the German actors, not surprisingly, have more comprehensible ones.
Nonetheless, with my hearing problems, I was grateful for cc subtitles. LeCarré has a cameo, as a white-haired drunk in a bar. Willem Dafoe has a very well-cut banker's suit which shows his gauntness to good advantage.
Laurie Jay says check it out.
