Review of A Most Violent Year (2014) by Jess_Hill — 11 Jul 2015
A polished, tense and ultimately satisfying film. The pacing is deliberate and slow, with a constant sense of unease throughout the film. Exceptional performances from the entire cast, with a storyline that is at first obscured, and then gradually unfolds to a sound resolution.
The soundtrack is quiet and the cinematography is occasionally well crafted, with a few violent moments to punctuate the otherwise sedate visuals. A solid, thorough film. 7.
