A MOST VIOLENT YEAR was a dazzling and refreshing take on the crime genre. It's an anti-gangster movie about a businessman who faces the challenge of evolving in an environment of corruption. The pressure of his failing business, the pressure of his scared wife, the pressure of his untrustworthy rivals, and the pressure of violent thugs, blends together in a thrilling narrative with a climax that is profound.
The audience clapped at the end. I thought it was one of the most impressive adult dramas I've ever seen.
