Review of A Most Violent Year (2014) by Geza G — 01 Jan 2015
You could say it's another one of those movies we've seen all along these last years that seem so fashionable. Well it is, but it's not what you expect at the same time. The tensed atmosphere (wonderfully depicted by the splendid photography and its dim lights) gets to you from the first minute on and never goes away.
The interpretation is great (Oscar Isaac keeps getting better) and so is the stage direction. The only regret we can have is that it does not end in flames, leaving us a bit disappointed and wanting more.
