Review of A Most Violent Year (2014) by Matthew F. J — 01 Feb 2015
An excellent film with a terrific story and some amazing performances from the cast. Very smartly written and done this film is a treat because it deals first of all with a topic we rarely get to see in films or hear about in daily news.
Second of all the choices made by the main character to avoid violence through firearms is an example of integrity and refusal to succumb to a certain facility and escalation in violence. This of all the film is a fascinating portrait of a man with values and ready to make the choices necessary to save his business.
The screen alchemy of the two leads is incredibly subtle and layered. both confirm here the amazing talent they possess to captivate an audience and express the most complicated feelings being felt by human beings.
A great smart film with a beautiful photography, an incredible soundtrack and some amazing natural locations that truly gives you the feeling you are in the 80's. Thumbs up. It's probably one of the best film to hit the theaters this year.
